Inspired by The Smiths’ “There Is a Light That Never Goes Out,” this piece started as an inside joke for my fiancée—and turned into something a little bigger. I’ve always said, “To die by your side, the pleasure, the privilege is mine,” and this became a visual love letter to that kind of ridiculous, romantic finality.
The contrast between the different versions brings out something deeper: how love can be both euphoric and fatalistic in the same breath. The light version plays like a daydream—sweet, surreal, and a little naive in its devotion. The dark version leans deeper—more grounded, more certain, and fully committed to the idea that there’s no better end.
Together, they hold the tension of the chorus—dramatic, a little unhinged, and somehow still dead-on.
